What to plan for with December email marketing

November 20, 2018

There are a lot of marketing opportunities in December, and real estate professionals should be aware of all of them. A little planning can go a long way toward making sure all marketing efforts stand out from the pack.

For one thing, there are a lot of holidays in December, as anyone knows, but that's particularly important for agents to remember, according to Salesforce on Marketing. That includes Christmas, New Year's Eve, of course, but it also means Hanukkah (which this year begins on Dec. 2) and Kwanzaa (starting the 26th). Having a marketing email to accompany each of those events is a must for any agent.

Going above and beyond
Kwanzaa's start date is also important because after-Christmas sales are common, so agents would be wise to get themselves associated with that push. Likewise, Free Shipping Day - which is used by online retailers - may offer some opportunities on Dec. 15 this year.

In addition to those big-name holidays, it's also important to keep in mind that the first day of winter comes on Dec. 21, and every weekend in December is a big shopping event. As a result, having some sort of marketing push around one of those weekends could also be fortuitous for agents.

What to keep in mind
Especially at this time of year, it's important for agents to keep in mind that most people are spending a lot of hours somewhere other than at home, according to Campaign Monitor. As such, mobile-friendly emails are a must for any agent that hasn't made that standard practice yet. When emails look better on phones and tablets as well as desktops, they're likely to generate more click-throughs.
