What back-end tech should agents update?

Real estate agents who rely on older tech for many of their day-to-day processes could end up costing themselves a lot of time and money. With that in mind, it's important for them to consider what kind of benefits updating might provide for them and their day-to-day operations as the year winds down.

While many may not think of it, the fact of the matter is that in a lot of cases, when real estate professionals rely on old programs to deal with various aspects of their operations, they're probably not getting a lot of bang for their buck, according to Inside Real Estate. Certainly, just about any platform an agent once chose after careful consideration likely gave them a lot of value over time, but as with anything else, it occasionally comes time to replace years-old platforms with something more suited to the modern market.

What's available?
To that end, there are a lot of options for ensuring things that have long been done manually can now be done more or less instantaneously without the need for an agent to do much more than a tap of the mouse. Everything from automating collation of information from leads to generating better reports on whatever local data is collected can now be done with just a few clicks, saving agents a lot of time over the course of a week, month or year. That time can then be devoted to other aspects of succeeding in the real estate business, whether agents are undertaking in-office housekeeping efforts or dealing with buying and selling clients.

And while things like artificial intelligence may sound like they're going to be costly to adopt, the truth is that agents actually have a lot of affordable investment options available to them to suit any number of needs. That, in turn, helps to increase the return they get on any such investment.

What's needed?
Consequently, it's important for agents to take careful stock of what they spend the most time at the computer doing, and then investigate options for streamlining those processes, according to Tom Ferry International. For example, if agents spend a lot of time on manual data entry a few times a month, it might be wise to invest a few hundred dollars into a software platform that reduces or even eliminates the hours that need to be spent on that task.

All too often, agents likely have many different technical issues that need their attention, and these can be tedious and time-consuming both independent of one another and collectively. As a consequence, finding one solution that helps clear a few of those hurdles or more can go a long way toward helping agents create workable solutions to their everyday time sucks.

The more agents can do to take a critical, holistic look at how they conduct business, the better off they will be when it comes to finding reasonable, affordable solutions. That can help get them off on the right foot when the next buying and selling season rolls around.
